This week in the Holistic Recruiter Club #007
Lots of tips and advice about talent acquisition data, tech and product!
📅 This Week's Highlights
I was back in England, from France this week! Fish and Chips, Beer and friends and family. I learned that travelling in a car for 6/7 hours with kids aged 4 and 20 months is challenging and I find working on recruitment-related matters much easier haha.
🔥🔥🔥We also have some very very exciting news!!!🔥🔥🔥
So….as you know Jean-Marie from
have been working on a bunch of things together which will all be revealed soon! But what we can share is that we have our very first event confirmed in September! We have sponsors and secrets to share!!!It will be a Franglais event which I just cannot wait for! We will be sharing insights from the survey we did with over 200 Talent Acquisition leaders from across Europe all about talent data! It’s invite-only but if you are interested in registering should we have any spare place please message me john@getpresage.com
🎙 Podcast Update:
So I am excited to announce I have 3 people booked to discuss, equal pay, and return to work for mums and caregivers, and I’m looking to get a dad on the show to discuss the challenges they face and what they are looking for. All in the hope that TA’s can see this demographic through another lens which could help in their attraction efforts.
🎥 The Two Tired Dads of TA Talk & Tech
We have two more weeks before we are back and boy do we have a show to share with you. The new format is shaping up to be very cool!
In the meantime check out the summer special!
📞 This week the only person I am speaking to is Katrina Collier. It’s been a while since we last caught up as she has been a busy bee promoting her new book which you can pre-order here. I will give you an update on this call next week!
This week’s top tip
My top tip this week is about planning.
My challenge to you is the following.
In a notion write in a database all the projects you have to work on.
In a related notion database for each of the projects write down every single task that is need to do that task and add the people needed to complete it.
The reason why I say this is that if you can get to this habit you can start to create a backlog of what needs to be done, build a road map and when you boss comes calling saying you need to do x, y and z. You can bring your project roadmap up and say which thing do I stop doing to ensure I can do what you are asking.
This will start to create a professionalised approach to work rather than just having to feel the need to say yes to every urgent request!
Whilst this may seem oversimplified, I do have examples, I have I can share with you. Contact me for these :)
What I Learned and Did This Week
When you want to debate a point on LinkedIn with an “influencer” you rarely engage when you want to challenge the point intellectually. Which makes me want to create a debate club for recruiters! What do you think?
For example, I don’t believe we can measure the quality of hire effectively, especially not to take any real points.
However, there are people out there like Natalie Brown who I really like to chat with as we can have an egoless chat, and challenge the thinking which is so great! We need more people in the space that can do this!
This is a fantastic short 26 min episode on how people read data the wrong way I love it ! Have a listen while you are sourcing! After you listened to JM and my summer special of course! haha
