A week of Data-Driven Recruitment:
This week we dive deep into the world of Talent Intelligence with insights from a former Amazon expert, discuss data-driven strategies, and highlight the importance of a holistic view in TA
This week was a data-driven theme podcast and LinkedIn live to boot!
I was really happy as we dropped a great episode of the podcast with Jeremy Sholl -
He has worked in Talent Intelligence at Amazon and has some amazing stories
but here our 5 Takeaways from Our Chat with Jeremy Sholl on Data-Driven Recruitment
The Power of Talent Intelligence: There is huge potential in talent intelligence by integrating both internal and external data. This approach helps in predicting future hiring needs, identifying skill gaps, and making strategic decisions that align with long-term business goals.
Curiosity: Encourage a relentless pursuit of knowledge and innovation within your recruitment team. By doing this you will keep your strategies fresh and effective.
Optimise and Innovate with your Recruitment Processes: Leveraging data to streamline operations, reduce time-to-hire, and improve candidate quality. Bu continuously optimising processes ensures you will stay ahead in the competitive talent market.
Strategic Long-Term Planning: Shift your focus from immediate hiring needs to building a sustainable talent pipeline. Use data-driven insights to anticipate future requirements and position your company for long-term success.
Stay Ahead with Market Insights: Monitor and analyse market trends, talent migration patterns, and emerging skills to stay ahead of the curve. Understanding these dynamics allows for proactive and informed recruitment strategies.

Wednesday's Top Tip:
This week I highlighted the importance of being a multifunctional leader. I took a short snippet from the episode with Pierre-Arnaud Bouyer Global Head of TA at BackMarket.
https://youtube.com/shorts/jo9i5N3G4oE
What this means is, speaking to all of the stakeholders, the team and understanding what needs to be done. This means not having to know everything but being informed and at least comprehending the overall view. Your job is not to be an expert Product manager or marketeer. It’s to have a Holistic view.
What I Learned This Week:
This week I got hooked into this: -
I’m not sure what you think - so please share your insights and challenge my logic - yet whoever Joe spoke to doesn’t work in a great culture of understanding the value of talent question and I’d also suggest this person learns how to push back and show other methods and ways of working.
If I put my amateur psychologist hat on This is what I see from this person’s remarks
They view TA as transactional, They are super focused on Coster Centricity, Limited perspective the list goes on. So to sum up what I think, yes reducing cost per hire in crucial, and balancing it with the quality and long-term value is or essential. But I think we need to be more focused on how cost efficiency and strategic development can give better overall outcomes. There is no one sizes fits all.
But it did bring me back to something I would like to discuss and explore more in-depth, “The effect of insecurity in the role of a TA” and “How does this insecurity affect their efficiency” So now Im ready to geek out on some organisation psychology!!!
Finally next week I’m having a break from the podcast - I had a few people reschedule the recordings and now I have a bunch of guests booked into the record so I will take the time to record and share again the week after next :) Instead, I will share last week’s episode with Jean-Marie :)
Hope you had a great week like me! Until next time…
